
Emma Macturk, MS Environmental Chemistry, Class of 2025
Thesis: Nontargeted Analysis of Fingermark Residue: Green Chemistry Considerations and Forensic Applications
Emma defended her master’s thesis research in April 2025 and graduated with her master’s degree in May 2025. One of her favorite lab memories from SepLab is making songs of the summer themed liquid nitrogen ice cream during the summer research period with the Taylor lab. Since graduating, she has accepted a position as a DEMO Applications Chemist at LECO Corporation.

Kira Fisher, BS in Chemistry, Class of 2026
Thesis: Increasing the accessibility and sustainability of comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography for routine analyses in forensic science
Kira defended her honors thesis in April 2026 and graduated with a BS in Chemistry in May 2026. One of her favorite lab memories was attending Pittcon in San Antonio with Grace and Dr. Kate to present her honors research! She is pursuing a doctorate degree in Analytical Chemistry at the University of Texas at Arlington.

Barbara Grace Saunders, BS in Chemistry, Minor in English, Class of 2026
Thesis: Developing a Method for the Holistic Analysis of Inorganic and Organic Gunshot Residues from Green Ammunition as Forensic Evidence
Grace defended her Honors thesis in April 2026 and graduated with a BS in Chemistry and minor in English in May 2026. Her favorite lab memories were paddleboarding over Summer 2025 with lab friends and traveling to San Antonio to get stuck in the Atlanta airport with Dr. Kate and make Build-a-Bears with Kira (and present her Honors research). Since graduating, she has accepted a full-time position as a Chemistry Patent Examiner with the United States Patent & Trademark Office in Alexandria, VA.
